MISSION

At Beaches Homeless Coalition (BHC), we uplift and serve the homeless population of the Jacksonville beaches with compassion, love, and respect - without expectations. Homelessness should not be a barrier to accessing resources and support. With a robust network of community partners and volunteers, BHC helps to connects those in need with essential services.  

WHAT WE DO

Through a network of churches, local ministries, volunteers, and stakeholders, we facilitate safe events that provide temporary shelter, food, clothing, hygiene assistance, transportation, information, and other support.

Collaboration: We work hand in hand with our community partners, volunteers, and stakeholders to create a network of support that is greater than the sum of its parts. 

Accountability: We are committed to transparency and accountability. We pledge to steward the resources entrusted to us and continuously work to evaluate and improve them.

Unconditional Service: We meet the people we serve “where they are.”  We provide comfort without judgment and point people to resources when they are ready.

  • The Beaches Homeless Coalition (BHC) is a nonprofit that serves our homeless neighbors across the Jacksonville Beaches. We work with local churches, ministries, volunteers and community partners to connect people in need with resources, food, and other essential services. We do it with compassion, love and respect, and without expectations.

  • We believe every human being has intrinsic value and deserves to be treated with dignity. Our work is guided by love, collaboration, accountability and unconditional service. Our motto says it simply: where there is need, we will love.

  • When the temperature drops below 40 degrees, we work with our faith partners and Mission House to open a cold night shelter. Guests get dinner, a warm place to sleep and breakfast, and often showers, clothing and toiletries too. Locations vary.

  • Compassion Nights are community events where guests can share a meal, stay overnight somewhere safe and pick up supplies and information. Check our Facebook page for upcoming dates.

  • Since 2023, our events have provided meals and overnight stays to more than 4,200 homeless neighbors at the Beaches, and the number keeps growing.


  • We serve Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach, Atlantic Beach and the wider Northeast Florida area.

  • No. BHC runs entirely on donations, volunteers and our partnerships with local churches and ministries. That is why community support matters so much. 

  • Many Duval County homeless services stop at the city limits, including Jacksonville Fire and Rescue's PATH outreach and the Sheriff's Office Homeward Bound relocation program. We are asking Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach and Atlantic Beach to pass a joint resolution so these services reach the Beaches too. Our neighbors here deserve the same support as everyone else in the county. 

  • We rely on volunteers to cook and serve meals, set up and staff shelter nights, sort donations and more. Sign up on our Get Involved page. 

  • You can give online through our Donation page either monetarily or by shopping from our Amazon Wishlist.

  • Yes. BHC is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit (Florida registration #CH77749), so donations are tax-deductible to the extent the law allows. Registration does not mean the state endorses, approves or recommends us. 

  • Yes, please do! Churches, businesses, schools and civic groups can host events, run supply drives or sponsor meals. Email us to get started.
